3 Rizal cops in extort try undergo inquest at DOJ


Three Rodriguez, Rizal policemen arrested for allegedly extorting money from a private individual whom they accused of involvement in illegal drugs have been presented to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for inquest proceedings on Thursday.

Sr. Master Sgt. Jose Reyes, Staff Sgt. Ramel Delorino, and SSgt. Glenn Libres, of the Rodriguez (Montalban) Municipal Police were charged before DOJ prosecutors by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) and the PNP Special Action Force (SAF).

The policemen, based on the complaint, went to the residence of the complainant on Nov. 14 supposedly to serve a warrant of arrest against his live-in partner, Kristina Gabriel, for violation of Batas Pambansa 22 (Bouncing Check Law) but Gabriel was no longer residing there.

The complainant was taken inside a police car and threatened with charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Anti-Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The three officers demanded PHP100,000 from the compl
ainant who was released on the same day with instruction that the money must be given to the following day.

In an entrapment operation, authorities recovered from the suspect two marked PHP1,000 bills, 35 PHP1,000 bills (boodle money), three PNP Glock 9mm pistols with six magazines, a white Toyota Hilux with Conduction Sticker No. A7Y263, and six mobile phones.
