Air Force general appointed new PSG chief

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has named Brig. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) as the new head of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), Malacañang announced on Tuesday.

'Brig. Gen. Jesus Nelson B. Morales has been appointed as the Commander of the Presidential Security Group, taking the place of Brig. Gen. Ramon P. Zagala,' Communication Secretary Cheloy Garafil said in a statement.

Morales served as the deputy wing commander of the PAF's Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao, based in Davao City.

Garafil said Zagala would assume his new role as commander of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Zagala comes from a family whose military heritage spans three generations - his grandfather, Col. Ramon Zagala, and father, Maj. Gen. Rafael Zagala.

He entered the Officer Candidate School in 1993 and became his class' 1st Captain, earning him the Chief of Staff Saber.

He was commissioned to the regular force on Aug. 9, 1994.

After he graduated from the Officer Candidate School in 1994, Zagala was assigned to different Army and general headquarter units.
