Surat Thani Highways, together with the Narcotics Suppression Police, arrested a drug trafficking gang with 250 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.
At 08.00 this morning, Pol. Lt. Col. Panathep Potchanathiramontri, Superintendent of Highway Police Division 5, Division 2, Highway Police Bureau, along with highway police arrested Mr. Suwan, age 28, Mr. Thiraphat, age 23, Mr. Surapol, age 66, and Ms. Sujira, age 58, for drug trafficking, along with evidence of 250 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, a 6-wheeled truck, and a black car.
This follows on from the fact that at 4:00 p.m. on September 6, the arresting police took a radio car to inspect the area of ??responsibility and found a suspicious truck with a Lampang license plate driving along Asia Road 41, heading downstream, Khlong Sai Subdistrict, Tha Chang District, Surat Thani Province. They used a radio car to follow it to inspect the cargo until they reached the area in front of Highway Police Division 5, Subdistrict 2, Highway Police
Bureau, where they were able to stop the car. They found Mr. Suwan as the driver, so they asked to search the car and found several plastic bags containing 250 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside. They seized the vehicle.
From the investigation, Mr. Suwan confessed that he transported the aforementioned evidence from Chiang Rai Province to Songkhla Province, with an accomplice driving a Toyota sedan as the lead vehicle. The arresting officers therefore tracked down the vehicle and arrested 3 more suspects who were passengers in the vehicle before bringing them back for interrogation at Highway Police Division 5, Sub-Division 2, Highway Police Bureau (Surat Thani) and coordinating with the Narcotics Suppression Bureau’s operations unit to conduct an expanded investigation before taking all suspects and evidence to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for legal proceedings and to expand the investigation into the accomplices.
