The Manners and Etiquette of Supplication

Supplication has a glorious position on the side of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Therefore, we are required to pray with manners and etiquette so that the prayers are answered. The matter was among those included in the Friday Sermon titled ''Adab dan Tatatertib Berdoa'' or ''The Manners and Etiquette of Supplication''.

According to the imam or prayer leader, among the supplications and etiquettes are: Firstly, Perform ablution, begin and end the supplication by mentioning and praising the name of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala and saying salawat and salam to the Messenger of Allah. Secondly: Be earnest and feel confident that the prayer will be granted. Thirdly: The supplication is accompanied by humility, focused with sincerity of the soul, lowering one's voice and accompanied by fear of the punishment of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala along with hope for His abundant grace. Fourthly: Ensure that we obtain halal sources of sustenance. Fifthly: Do not pray for something inappropriate such as things that are unreasonable and impossible. Sixth: The supplications should also be general, comprehensive and concise.
