13th AFMGM Meeting Emphasizes ASEAN Financial Integration


Manila: Cooperation in capital market development, sustainable finance, regional payment connectivity, and other key initiatives under the Roadmap for Financial and Monetary Integration in ASEAN were discussed during the 13th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM) and related meetings. Chaired by the Philippines, the virtual meeting embraced the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together” and commenced with dialogues between ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors alongside international financial institutions.



According to Radio Television Brunei, Brunei Darussalam was represented by Awang Haji Asrul Adrain bin Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Ahmad, Acting Permanent Secretary for Fiscal One at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and Dayang Hajah Rashidah binti Haji Sabtu, Managing Director of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank. During the meeting, Awang Haji Asrul Adrain expressed appreciation for the robust support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank Group (WBG), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in mobilizing resources, offering policy advice, and delivering targeted knowledge sharing. He emphasized that such collaboration is vital for bridging infrastructure gaps, enhancing ASEAN’s competitiveness, and boosting socio-economic development.
