14th National Youth Day Media Conference

The National Youth Day is celebrated every 1st of August. This year, the 14th National Youth Day celebration will be held on Saturday, the 3rd of next month at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas. The Permanent Secretary for Administration, Finance and Estate at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports explained the matter at a media conference on the celebration this morning. This time around the celebration will focus on the concept of Entrepreneurship and Technology.

Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, explained that this year's Youth Day celebration carries a theme of 'Belia Siaga Masa Depan' or Youth Prepared for the Future which promises the future for youth as the inheritors of the nation and for the nation's continuity is in the youth's hand. The theme, he explained, is a high hope for youth in line with the youth's role as the country's asset.

Several programmes are lined up for the celebration such as the National Youth Day Awards namely Excellent Youth, Youth in Service, Youth Young Leader and Excellence for Youth Project. Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal further explained, the Youth Mass Gathering at the Main Convention Hall will maintain the concept of interaction among participants with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

At the Media Conference, representatives from Youth Associations received posters. Among those who received the poster was Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari, Member of the Legislative Council. Also present were Retired Colonel Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Dayang Mariam binti Ulat, Acting Director of Youth and Sports. Aside from that, the National Youth Day celebration will be filled with religious programmes such as the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony which will take place today at the Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampung Bebatik Kilanas.
