The climax of the national event was the presentation of National Youth Day Awards in 4 categories namely Excellent Youth, Youth Services, Young Youth Leader Awards and Excellent Project Award For Youth. The awards are given in recognition and appreciation of the youths' contributions and services to the country and youth development. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the awards.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of the National Youth Day Celebration Executive Committee and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry as the Deputy Chairman of the said executive committee as well as other committee members.
Also gracing the event were His Majesty's sons and brothers,
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office,
His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
The function began with the reading of Al-Fatihah and 'Doa Selamat led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
In his welcoming speech, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports highlighted the Study Review of the National of Youth Policy which is coordinated with the Resolution of the Youth Congress held last June which aimed to help the country's youths to move towards personal success and impact significantly on the community and country in the long term.
Loyalty to Allah and the Monarch, Love for the Nation, defending the country's sovereignty and possessing noble and praiseworthy morals are among the highlights of the 'Ikrar Belia' or Youth Pledge. It was read by 52 youths from educational institutions, uniformed organisations, associations and clubs, alumni as well as youths representing the 7 Brunei Indigenous Groups. They were led by Muhammad Hanis bin Haji Osman, the Co-founder and Executive Officer of the Willing Generation's Social Enterprise.
A video clip produced by Creative Youth Group showcased the youths' development and achievements in the digital economy, industrial revolution Four Point Zero and technological development era towards accomplishing the Wawasan Negara 2035. The video also highlighted the active and continuous involvement of youths in the creative economy sector, social enterprise, voluntarism and sustainable development.
The special performance by youths reflected the seeds of transformation in line with the development of the Web economy, rapid development of technological products and smarter automation system. The preparedness of the youths in developing the nation together in response to His Majesty's call to move towards achieving Wawasan 2035 based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy concept was translated through the performance.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then presented the National Youth Awards 2019. The Excellent Youth Award was presented to Dayang Hajah Noor Monasaliena @ Suzie binti Haji Mohd Salleh. The recipient is an entrepreneur and manager of 7 local companies in the country and a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) since 2015. With her strong competitive and resilient personality, Dayang Hajah Noor Monasaliena is also the driver of the Youth Centre Sunday Night project which gathers youths with programmes of different themes. Apart from being excellent in entrepreneurship, Dayang Hajah Noor Monasaliena is also active in helping the needy including joining a humanitarian expedition in Palu, Sulawesi in Indonesia which was devastated by an earthquake last year. Dayang Hajah Noor Monasaliena received a trophy, woven cloth, appreciation certificate and 3 thousand dollars.
The Youth Services Award was awarded to Doctor Dayang Hajah Ummi Fa'izah binti Hj Abdul Rahman, the Founderand Mentor of Syababul Iman Group of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Sengkurong since 2012. With a Doctor of Philosophy degree or PhD in Da'wah and Leadership, the recipient works at the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University as a Lecturer and Curriculum Coordinator. The award is given for her active involvement in conducting voluntary initiatives that aid youth and community development through several programmes including Syabab Prihatin in Aceh, Indonesia; 'Zero to Hero'; "Youth Protection"; Bicara An-Nisa; "Journey of a Mu'min"; and Brunei Peduli Palestin. Doctor Dayang Hajah Ummi Fa'izah received a trophy, woven cloth, appreciation certificate and 3 thousand dollars.
Pengiran Salimatul Sa'ada binti Pengiran Mohd Salleh received the Young Youth Leader Award. An Education Officer at Orang Kaya besar Imas Primary School, she has been the President of the Society for Community Outreach and Training, SCOT Association since 2016. The recipient successfully led SCOT members in leading major SCOT programmes such as 'Green Exchange', Poverty Eradication Workshop for Youth, Ramadhan Charity Activities and collecting funds by selling recycle bags, 'Ummi Bags'. The 'Penpal Across Borders' project which she introduced succeeded in gathering more than 450 students from the country and Singapore to communicate via e-mail and postcards. Meanwhile, the 'Assalamu'alaikum Project', the mission that instils positive atmosphere and culture in eliminating the 'bully' problem for the 3rd Cohort Young Executive Programme which she led was supported by several parties and agencies. Pengiran Salimatul Sa'ada received a trophy, Woven Cloth, Appreciation Certificate and 3 thousand dollars.
The Excellent Project Award for Youth is a recognition for projects that successfully spurred youth development in diverse fields especially in the era of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. The recipient was PROJEK DART from Dart Logistics Sdn Bhd. The award was received by Zul ' Amali bin Dato Paduka Haji Idris. The project offers a new public transport platform as well as full and part time job opportunities. Since the start of its operations, 120 drivers have registered as DART drivers. The project received a trophy Appreciation Certificate and Seed Grant of three thousand and five hundred dollars.
The theme of this year's celebration is 'Belia Siaga Masa Depan' or 'Prepared Youth, the Nation's Future' stresses the survivable of the people and nation lies in the hands of youth as the country's assets. His Majesty's declaration of the 1st of August as the National Youth Day is a recognition and appreciation to the country's youth movement. Befitting the objective of the celebration, it is hoped more youths will be involved in youth activities and national development.
