Towards ensuring the distribution of the Personal Gift of Dates from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will be carried out smoothly, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah as the coordinator is committed on the logistics and the transportation of the dates.
Using the shipping service, a total of 157 point 8 metric tonnes of Safawi dates arrived in Muara Port on the 7th of April. The total increased by point 3 metric tonnes compared to the previous year. This is due to the increase in the number of Muslim population in the country. Known for their various nutrients such as rich in protein, sugar, fibre, Vitamins A and C as well as minerals, the dates were packed in 10 air-conditioned containers to guarantee their ideal condition. The shipment of the dates from Saudi Arabia took 23 days. Loading and unloading of the containers were carried out by a professional workforce using a special heavy-duty equipment.
The arrival of the containers of dates at Muara Port was welcomed and closely-monitored by officers from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with the assistance of the relevant government agencies. Aside from ensuring the order received were right, its condition was also closely observed. The dates which were specially ordered from Al Madina Dates Company, Saudi Arabia, will be the starter at the breaking of fast this upcoming Ramadan.
His Majesty's personal gift of dates will be distributed to 505 thousand Muslim residents throughout the country including those in the rural area. In the Brunei Muara District, 338 thousand small boxes of dates will be distributed to residents in 17 mukims. 58-thousand 500 small boxes of dates will be distributed to residents in the Belait District, 44-thousand boxes of dates will be distributed to residents in 32 villages from seven mukims in the Tutong District and 8-thousand 600 boxes will be distributed to residents in Temburong. Penghulus and village chiefs are entrusted to distribute the dates to their respective villagers. The presentation of His Majesty's personal gift of dates for the breaking of fast portrays the care and attention of the Monarch for his subjects.
