16 New Cases, 64 Cases Recovered

16 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country yesterday, bringing the total cases to 15,202. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al’Afiah, Ministry of Health. Also joining was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education.

There is 1 additional new case to 1 of the existing active cluster who was previously a close contact with several positive cases. There are 3 new clusters detected yesterday involving 9 cases. All of these new clusters are accommodation clusters in which one of them was Lee & Soh Trading staff house Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees. 3 clusters have been closed following no new detected cases for 28 days namely TSL Construction staff house, 12904, and Tauhid Jaya Sdn Bhd.

Therefore, the current total active clusters are 111 clusters. 6 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection. 64 cases have recovered yesterday, taking the total recovered cases to 14,837 cases, whereas the total active cases are 265. 1 case is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation and additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. 1 case in Category 4 requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 1,774 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 640,295 tests.
