17,762 Students Received 1st Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine

The Minister of Education explained that 17,762 students have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine during the National Vaccination Programme for Students Aged 12 to 17 under the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. They comprise students from schools and institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs, private and international schools.

Out of the figure, 11,805 students were vaccinated in Brunei Muara District, 1,074 in Temburong District, 2,698 in Tutong District and 2,185 in Belait District. Through the programme, the Ministry of Education has assigned supervising officers and teachers to assist staff at vaccination centres to facilitate the registration process for parents and students, and provide transportation for student to the vaccination centres.

The Ministry of Education also informed on 2 changes on the student’s vaccination schedule. The first change is on Friday, 12th of November 2021, involving 11 schools and 699 students. The second change is on the 13th of November 2021 involving 1,105 students from 14 government and private schools and institutions. The new date and vaccination location have been informed to the affected schools. Parents and guardians have been contacted and are advised to refer to the school on this matter or visit the Ministry of Education’s website.
