197 New COVID-19 Cases

Brunei Darussalam total COVID-19 cases rose to 1 thousand 333 as 197 new cases were reported. The Minister of Health in a media conference yesterday said the sharp increase of cases included 106 new cases from the outstanding laboratory tests, while 91 positive cases have been detected by the Laboratory Services Department in the last 24 hours.

For the 197 new cases, there are additional cases to currently active clusters: 27 cases for the Chung Hua KB Cluster; Champion 7 and Surrounding Vessels Cluster – 25 cases for Champion 7 – Blue Titanium Cluster; 10 cases for the Champion 7 – Posh Elegance Cluster; 10 cases for the Champion 7 – Platform Cluster; 1 case for Champion 7 – Others Cluster; 10 cases for The Mall Cluster; 10 cases for Immigration Cluster; 6 cases for PA Cluster; 6 cases for Al-Falah/Freda-Radin Cluster; 5 cases for BSP HQ (Block M) Cluster; 5 cases for 583 Cluster; 3 cases for ABCi Cluster, and 1 case for IBTE KB Cluster.

Meanwhile, one new cluster have been identified. 4 new cases are related to Case 884 reported on the 18th of August 2021. This cluster is now known as the 884 Cluster. Meanwhile, there are 74 cases where the source of infection is still being determined. The cases in the active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases. Contact tracing for all these new cases is currently undergoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and RT-PCR SARS-Co-V-2 test.

Meanwhile, 8 cases have recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 351 cases. This means, a total of 979 active cases have been recorded in the country. Among the active cases, 3 cases are in critical condition, where two cases require ventilators and one case requires the help of an additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. Meanwhile, 20 other cases are under close monitoring at the National Isolation Centre. Of these 23 cases, only one had received a complete COVID-19 vaccine injection. In the past 24 hours, 4,618 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2, taking the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 189,086 tests.
