214 New Cases, 7 New Clusters, 118 Cases Recovered

214 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed yesterday, taking the total cases to 5,261. There are 44 additional new cases to 13 of the existing active clusters. The cases in these clusters are individuals who are currently quarantined and in contact with several confirmed cases.

7 new clusters have been detected. These new clusters are the 3440 Cluster with 4 cases; 4323 Cluster with 3 cases; 4944 Cluster with 15 cases; 4868 Cluster with 10 cases; 4917 Cluster with 12 cases; and Hua Ho Manggis Mall Cluster with 12 cases. All the new clusters include those previously reported as cases where the source of infection has not been identified. Another new cluster, the Rimba Complex Cluster with 7 cases was the result of the mass swabbing operation conducted on Saturday, 18th of September 2021. Further investigation and follow up action such as quarantine for close contacts are being carried out for this cluster. 2 clusters were closed following no new cases for 28 days namely the 362 Cluster and 1257 Cluster.

This makes the current total active clusters at 95. Meanwhile, one imported case was recorded yesterday, arriving from Singapore on the 14th of September 2021 on board the Royal Brunei flight BI 422. Currently, 106 cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection. 118 cases have recovered yesterday, bringing the total recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 3,575, with 1,652 cases remaining active. Among the active cases, 8 are in critical condition, with 7 cases requiring artificial ventilation, and one case requiring the help of an additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. 22 Category 4 cases are now admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring.
