2,600 Participants from 13 Ministries Take Part in Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony

Two thousand and six hundred participants from 13 Ministries yesterday took part in the Khatam Al-Quran for Ministries in conjunction with Nuzul Al-Quran celebration organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The second of its kind, the ministries Khatam al-Quran ceremony involved officers and staffs from all Ministries in the country. The event took place at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong yesterday morning.

In attendance were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Md. Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Ministeri's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussien, Minister of Energy (Energy and Manpower) and Indsutry AND Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The ceremony began with the reading of Surah al-Fatihah led by Awang Haji Haris Bin Haji Suboh, Senior Religious Officer at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. It continued with the reading of Al-Quran verses by 13 main readers who represented the 13 ministries. The event celebrated the Nuzul Al-Quran or Revelation of Al-Quran and sought blessings for Brunei Darussalam as well as making members of the Civil Service good examples in carrying out beneficial acts.
