The National family Day celebration is a platform to unite efforts in delivering messages on the importance of family harmony and strengthening of the family institution to overcome all challenges, especially in community solidarity and nation development. Towards this, all parties need to give a united commitment, standing shoulder to shoulder in multiplying efforts to drive celebratory events, either at the national, district, mukim and village levels, as well as at the respective organisational, association, community or family group levels.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed the matter while chairing the second meeting of the National Family Day 2018 celebration Executive Committee. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, as the chairman of the celebration's executive committee also emphasised on the importance of the role of the family institution in shaping a community and country possessing high integrity and is akin to the main pillar of a house so that it will stand strong.
Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan said that a well-led family is able to produce an excellent society and a broken family will cause the collapse of society and country. Thus, this year's celebration focus include the problem of drug abuse that also contributes to the increase of domestic violence and jeopardises the harmony as well as well-being of the family institution. Towards this, the minister stressed that such an issue should be taken into account, in planning a year-long family institution strengthening programmes.
The meeting among other things discussed the format of the celebration's main event. This includes religious. Community, sports and recreation activities involving every family member at all levels of the community. Among those present were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as the Deputy Chairman of the National Family Day 2018 Celebration and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Deputy Commissioner of Police. The National Family Day 2018 Celebration will be held on the 6th of May with the 'Keluarga Ku Penyayang, Negara Gemilang' or My Loving Family, Glorious Country.
