3,721 New Cases, 875 Cases Recovered

8 COVID-19 cases are in Category 4 and 3 cases are in Category 5. Meanwhile, 1 case has passed away. The case was an 88-year-old man who did not get the COVID-19 vaccine and had respiratory problems due to the COVID-19 infection.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia DoCtor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al-Afiah, Ministry of Health.

$3,721 new cases have been reported today, taking total cases to 48,055. Of these new cases, 2,980 were from ART results uploaded to the Ministry of Health’s portal, while 741 were from 4,025 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

Since the Third Wave began in early February 2022, a total of 1,574 cases which is 7.6 percent of the total positive cases in this Wave are children aged 5 years and below. To date, no children in this age group have been categorised in Categories 3, 4 or 5.

875 cases have recovered yesterday, bringing total recovered cases to 23,593 with 24,349 cases remaining active.

At present, the bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is 7 percent whereby 166 active cases are placed in isolation centres and 23,934 positive cases are undergoing home self-isolation.
