39 New Cases, 4 New Clusters Detected, 60 Recovered

39 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country, bringing the total COVID-19 cases to 15,283. The Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said there are 5 additional new cases to 3 of the existing active clusters who are previously close contacts with several positive cases.

4 new clusters were detected involving 26 cases. All the clusters are private accommodation clusters, with one of them, Rajiya Interior & Construction Sdn Bhd Cluster, is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees. Six clusters were closed following no new detected cases for 28 days, namely WSS Kiulap Construction Dormitory, 13978, Jalan Pasir Berakas Construction staff house, Batu Apoi Construction staff house, 9761 and Hasnaljar Sdn Bhd. Therefore, current total active clusters stand at 104. 8 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection.

60 cases have recovered. In this regard, the Ministry of Health has recalculated and made a correction on the current number of active cases which is 298 cases. Among the cases, one is in Category 5 and is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit, requiring assistance of artificial ventilation, as well as additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. Meanwhile, one case in Category 4, requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring. 4,411 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of lab tests carried out since January 2020 to 653,559.
