3rd Meeting of ASEAN Senior Economic Officials

The Third Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials for The Fifty Second ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting welcomed the steady progress of the Priority Economic Deliverables under Brunei Darussalam’s ASEAN Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2021. Apart from that, the meeting also provided updates on the implementation of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, and exchanged views on implementing the findings as well as recommendations in the Mid-Term Review or MTR of the AEC Blueprint 2025. The 3-day virtual meeting starts yesterday and is chaired by Doctor Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The meeting also discussed reports of Sectoral Bodies that are under the purview of the Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting.

 

The meeting will finalise the expanded list of essential goods under the ‘Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation of Non-Tariff Measures, NTM’s on Essential Goods under the Hanoi Plan of Action on Strengthening ASEAN Economic Cooperation and Supply Chain Connectivity in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic’. In the meeting, there will be exchange of views on the way forward towards enhancing ASEAN’s economic relations with its dialogue partners including preparations for the consultations with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners.
