Sport utility vehicle drivers had the opportunity to test their capabilities and expertise in the Four wheel Drive Driving Test at Kampong Biong Racing Circuit in Jalan Rambai, Tutong District yesterday. The test received encouraging participation from four-wheel drive vehicle enthusiasts from all over the country as well as from neighbouring Malaysia.
Three categories were competed comprising the Standard Open category, Amateur and Team Relay categories. The competition was the first of its kind jointly organised by the Brunei Four Wheel Drive Association and Kampung Biong. It was intended to foster closer relations among Four Wheel Drive Vehicle drivers in the country. The race was also meant to highlight to the enthusiasts the importance of safety and discipline in such a robust and challenging activity as well as support efforts by the Ministry of Primary Industry and Tourism to attract tourists to visit the country. Another objective was to introduce Kampung Biong as a tourist destination in Tutong District and to further develop the sport in the country.
The winner of the Open Standard Category was Mohd Usslyzam Bin Budin from Tutong District. Ngui Chan Loong from Sabah emerged as the champion in the Amateur Category while Haji Jamahat team won in the Team Relay event. Prizes were presented by Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, the Tutong District Officer.
