520 Samples Are Delta Variant, 3 Directive Violations Issued Compound Fines

31st of January, samples from 570 COVID-19 positive cases detected in Brunei Darussalam have undergone gene sequencing tests to identify variants present in the country.

From the total, 520 were confirmed as the Delta variant, meanwhile 50 samples are from the Omicron variant. The Omicron variant cases included 37 imported cases and 13 local cases in which all the Omicron variant cases detected in Brunei Darussalam only had mild symptoms or were asymptomatic. Currently no Omicron cases in the country are categorised in Category 4 or 5. Meanwhile for the movement restrictions carried out from 12 midnight until 4 in the morning, 3 directive violations nationwide were issued with compound fines, whereby all three were violations of the directive to stay at home.
