63 New Cases, 2 New Clusters Detected, 89 Recovered

Total COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam reached 14,121 as 63 new cases have been confirmed. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al’Afiah, Ministry of Health.

There are 32 additional new cases to 12 existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. Two new clusters have been detected involving 10 cases. Nur Naziba Construction Staff House and M.Rahman Construction Staff House are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees. Meanwhile, four clusters have been closed following no new detected cases for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 169 clusters. 21 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection

89 cases have recovered, taking the total recovered cases to 13,322 cases, whereas the total number of active cases are 702 cases. 5 cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. Meanwhile, 3 cases in Category 4 require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 3,896 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 552,959.
