73rd WHO Regional Committee Meeting

Communication for health, cervical cancer, mental health, non-communicable disease control and prevention, as well as basic health care were among the topics discussed at the 73rd Regional Committee Meeting of the World Health Organisation, WHO for the Western Pacific. The meeting which takes place in Manila, The Philippines, from 24th to 28th October 2022 is attended by Ministers of Health and representatives from 37 member countries of the WHO Western Pacific Region.

 

Leading Brunei Darussalam’s delegation at the meeting is Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. Emergency preparedness which is the management of COVID-19 and access to medicines and vaccines, were discussed during a courtesy visit to Her Excellency Doctor Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Officer-in-charge for the Western Pacific Region. Also held were bilateral discussions on cooperation in the field of health with Malaysian Minister of Health; Advisor to the Minister of Welfare, Labor and Health of Japan; and the Officer-in-charge, Department of Health of the Republic of the Philippines. The Minister of Health also held discussions with Far Eastern University and made a visit regarding aspects of training in several fields of health sciences, especially the field of nursing training.
