8 Cases in Category 4, 1,179 Cases Recovered

8 COVID-19 cases are in Category 4. The Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al-Afiah, Ministry of Health. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar also shared that two cases have passed away in the past 24 hours with one of them is known to have several health problems and the case’s death is not categorised as death due to COVID-19. Whereas the cause of death for the second case is still under investigation.

2,819 new cases have been reported today, taking total cases to 37,798. Of these new cases, 2,111 were from ART results uploaded to the Ministry of Health’s portal, while 708 were from 2,823 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. 1,179 cases have recovered today, bringing total recovered cases to 20,583 with 17,104 cases remaining active.

At present, the bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is 9 percent whereby 212 active cases are placed in isolation centres and 16,892 cases are undergoing home self-isolation. As of yesterday, 20th of February 2022, the accomplishments of the National Vaccination Programme for those who have received three doses is 51.3 percent of the overall rate of the population, meanwhile for those who have received one dose and two doses is more than 94 percent respectively. Meanwhile, there are 138 active clusters currently under the Ministry of Health’s monitoring at this time, of which no clusters involving businesses or public places is detected today.
