82 New Cases, 297 Cases Recovered

 

82 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Brunei Darussalam yesterday, taking the total cases to 13,864. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al’Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

There are 48 additional new cases to 19 existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. 2 new clusters have been detected that involved 13 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, in which one of the clusters, Adinin Works and Engineering, Jalan Sg Pandan Staff House Cluster is a housing cluster that accommodates the company’s employees. 7 clusters have been closed following no new detected cases for 28 days. They are Clusters 1640; 5671; 6347; 6419; 6425; 6427; and 7641. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 177 clusters.

 

21 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection. 297 cases have recovered yesterday, bringing the total recovered cases to 12,900 cases, whereas the total number of active cases are 870. 7 cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. 6 other cases in Category 4 require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 1,871 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, taking the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 535,302 tests.
