87 New Cases, 4 New Clusters, 73 Cases Recovered

87 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,378. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, stated the matter during the media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam. Joining the media conference at Dewan Al ‘Afiah, Ministry of Health was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications.

There are 31 additional new cases to 7 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. Meanwhile, 4 new clusters have been detected that involved 30 cases. All of the new clusters are residence clusters, wherein one of it, Sweet Lemongrass staff house Cluster is a housing cluster where the companies’ employees are residing. No cluster has been closed yesterday. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 162 clusters. 26 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

73 cases have recovered bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,786, with 494 cases remaining active. Among the cases, 5 cases are in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. There is no other Category 4 case that require oxygen assistance and close monitoring.
