An additional Virology Laboratory, the Brunei COVID-19 AirLab is able to speed up swab test results and provide more up-to-date results, than ever before, apart from being able to accommodate more lab tests in a day. Yesterday afternoon, the Minister of Health as well as the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy visited the new lab.
The Brunei COVID-19 AirLab located at Bridex Jerudong is an effort by the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to increase the capacity of the SARS-CoV-2 lab tests. Starting operations last Thursday, the lab can accommodate up to 5 thousand tests a day. On a 24 hour operation, the mobile lab has a level 2 bio security. The new lab is a collaboration between His Majesty’s Government and Beijing Genomic Institution, BGI.
