ADMM Retreat and Three Defence Ministers’ Informal Meetings

The momentum of meetings under the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting, ADMM Process continues this month with the convening of the ADMM Retreat and three separate defence ministers' informal meetings with the People's Republic of China, Japan and the United States of America. These meetings were all held at the Avani PLUS Riverside Bangkok Hotel, Thailand.

Representing Brunei Darussalam to the ADMM Retreat as well as the defence ministers' informal meetings was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. Also joining the delegation were Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma'awiah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence and Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Director of Defence Policy.

The ADMM Retreat was chaired by His Excellency General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, on behalf of His Excellency General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Kingdom of Thailand. His Excellency General Prawit Wongsuwan also co-chaired the defence ministers' informal meetings with the respective defence ministers of the People's Republic of China, Japan and the United States of America.

At the side-lines, the Second Minister of Defence also had the opportunity for bilateral calls on His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as His Excellency General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
