Visual impairment is not an obstacle for a person to improve themselves. The disability should be seen as something special, whether in performing religious acts or occupation – and especially if they are able to read and memorize the holy verses of Al-Quran.
28-year-old Dayang Nur Asilah binti Mohd Zaini and 39-year-old Dayang Siti Rosyidah @ Noramaslina binti Abdullah are among the special needs students who have sight loss and now participating in Al-Quran Braille Class at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute. Both of them have joined the class for almost 10 years and the knowledge that they have learned is not only on reading and memorizing the Al-Quran Braille but also proficient in typing down the Al-Quran verses by using a Braille machine.
Awang Haji Ubaidillah bin Haji Abdul Mughni, an Al-Quran teacher and Supervisor of the Al-Quran Braille Class explained that currently the special needs students that participating the Al-Quran Braille Class can memorize from 3 to 7 Juz or Chapters of Al-Quran.
