Also tabled were five Working papers focusing on the core principle of tithe, potential of tithe in development, tithe distribution, tithe management and empowering the provision of tithe law. Present was Doctor Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, Dean of Faculty of Syariah, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB as Co-Chairman of PAP FIZ. The working papers presented included ‘Critical Analysis on Values and Objectives of Zakat Core Principles’; ‘Potensi Zakat Dalam Pembangunan Ekonomi Asnaf Fakir Miskin Di Negara Brunei Darussalam’; and ‘Pemerkasaan Peruntukan Undang- Undang Pentadbiran Zakat Di Negara Brunei Darussalam’. The presentation touched on tithe which is the main mechanism in strengthening the economic position of muslim ummah, tithe distribution collectively that helps to strengthen the development of the ummah as well as the provisions of laws and regulations from the Islamic Religious Council Act. The Khat Calligraphy and Jawi writing workshops are among the programs organized in conjunction with the Brunei Mid -Year Conference and Exhibition, MYCE. The workshop was organized by the Brunei History Center in collaboration with the Language and Literature Bureau.

40 participants comprising government officials and staff, students of higher learning institutions as well as individuals participated in the one-day workshop which were conducted by two skilled instructors in the field of calligraphy and Jawi spelling.

The one-day workshop included the systematic writing and Jawi spelling by sharing basic methods using syllables. Apart from educating and exposing the younger generation and youths on the history and language through the art of Islamic calligraphy, the workshop also aimed to support the Malay Islamic Monarchy concept by instilling and strengthening the feelings of love and loyalty to the Monarch, religion, race and nation.
