APEC Women and the Economy Forum

 

Various efforts are made to increase the resilience of women from uncertainty in the future. Among them are to continue the provision of healthcare services for women and girls, as well as providing entrepreneurial support to Micro,  Small and Medium Enterprises. The Permanent Secretary for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy outlined the matter at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, APEC Women and the Economy Forum.

 

Dayang Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin also highlighted the importance of continued dialogue between public and private stakeholders in identifying gaps, challenges and appropriate strategies to effectively address barriers towards women’s economic empowerment and regional initiatives. The APEC Women and the Economy Forum, WEF was held recently via online and was chaired by The Honourable Jan Tinetti, Minister for Women of New Zealand. This year’s forum carries a theme of “Women’s Economic Empowerment post-COVID-19” which focuses on steps undertaken by APEC Economies to address the disproportionate impacts of the pandemic on women and girls. The Meeting also adopted the 2021 APEC Women and the Economy Forum Statement.
