The first flight carrying 251 of the country's haj pilgrims safely arrived in the country at 6.44 late yesterday afternoon. The haj delegation comprised of 42 pilgrims under Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad, 41 from At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sendirian Berhad, 62 from Raudah Al-Amin Sendirian Berhad and 103 from Straits Central Agencies Sendirian Berhad. The delegation also include 3 officers from the Haj Medical Office.
Their arrival was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Second Minister of Defence. Also in attendance was His Excellency Emad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Muhanna, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to the country.
Earlier, the Doa Selamat was read by Awang Haji Amran bin Haji Md Salleh, Mosque Affairs Officer. Also present were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry; and Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
