The Asnaf Zakat Entrepreneurs Market was officiated yesterday morning. The initiative provides opportunities for businesses and spaces for the entrepreneurs comprising the Poor and Destitute Asnaf and New Converts Asnaf to introduce their products and services to the public as well as give healthy competition amongst the vendors. It is part of the Islamic Da'wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs' efforts in collaboration with the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB and supported by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, to build up capacity, capability and skills as well as act as a 'market place' platform for them to become successful entrepreneurs.
The opening was officiated by Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. The function ran concurrently with the presentation of participation certificates to three market participant representatives namely Muallafpreneuer, vendors under the Asnaf Zakat Empowerment Programme, PROPAZ; and MUIB vendors. 54 vendors took part in the market, 26 from Muallafpreneurs, 13 from PROPAZ, and 15 from MUIB.
Also present were Awang Haji Abd Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of Islamic Da'wah Centre, and Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, Acting Secretary of MUIB. The Asnaf Zakat Entrepreneurs Market will be held until this Sunday from 8 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon except for today when it will be closed for Friday prayers from 11:30 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon.
