His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, this afternoon received in separate Audiences and Junjung Ziarah the country's intending haj pilgrims. The audiences took place yesterday afternoon at Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received junjung ziarah from the intending male haj pilgrims.
Also attending the ceremony was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
This year, one thousand thirty five Brunei intending pilgrims will perform the fifth pillar of Islam including medical and haj officers. Out of the total, 509 are male intending haj pilgrims and 526 are female. His Majesty's government has authorised four companies to conduct haj management services this year, namely the Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad, Straits Central Agencies Brunei Sendirian Berhad, At Taqwa Travel Tours Sendirian Berhadand Raudah Al-Amin Sendirian Berhad. The first flight is scheduled to depart on the 28th of July, while the second flight will leave the next day and the third and fourth flights will leave on the 31st of July and 1st of August respectively.
Brunei Darussalam is among the country that has the highest number of haj pilgrims. This is made possible through His Majesty's continuous care and attention for the country's intending haj pilgrims by awarding His Majesty's personal haj passage as well as fare provisions from the government and those for new converts.
Meanwhile at another part of Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha received junjung ziarah from the female intending haj pilgrims.
Also present was Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab-Rahaman.
The welfare and health of the intending pilgrims during their stint in the holy land is a priority of His Majesty's government. For their comfort in performing the haj thoroughly, 13 officers comprising of 5 haj and 8 medical officers will depart for Saudi Arabia tomorrow.
Before departing for the holy land, the intending haj pilgrims have undergone 12 sessions of haj courses as preparation for them. The courses were conducted by the Haj Management Department every Friday and Sunday starting on the 6th of April. Through the courses the intending haj pilgrims are equipped with knowledge on how to perform the Haj correctly.
