The 13th Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme this year continues with the Distribution of Flags to selected homes. The flags distribution ceremonies took place simultaneously in the four districts today and in Brunei Muara, the event was held at Kampung Sungai Kebun Sports Complex this afternoon. Belia Cinta Tanah Air literally means 'Youth Love the Country' and the programme is a collaboration among the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The aim of the project is to spur youth to participate in all leadership, voluntary and development oriented activities.
The ceremony began with the Belia Cinta Tanah Air Procession involving 24 participants. It began at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah complex area in the capital and was led by a band from the Co-curriculum Department, Ministry of Education.
The main event took place at Sungai Kebun Sports Complex. The National Flag was handed over by the leader of the Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme participants to Pengiran Haji Ayub bin Pengiran Sulaiman, the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Burong Pingai Ayer as the Ketua Kampong of Pandai Besi 'B' and Kampong Pandai Besi 'A' and the Acting Ketua Kampong of Pekan Lama and Kampong Pengiran Setia Negara. The ceremony continued with the presentation of the flags to selected households.
In Tutong District, the programme's participants distributed the flags to selected villagers in Kampung Lamunin. The distribution was led by Awang Haji Mohd Som bin Haji Aji, Head of the Youth and Sports Department Branch in Tutong as the Chairman of the Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme in the district. The flags were handed over to (Retired) Major Awang Said bin Haji Tinggal, the Ketua Kampung of Lamunin.
Meanwhile in Temburong District, 12 participants of the Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme distributed the National Flags to villagers in Kampung Negalang Ering in Mukim Batu Apoi.
