The Postal Services Department's presentation of Best Head of Postal Services and Postman Awards was among the contents of the World Post Day celebration yesterday morning.
Dayang Hajah Zaliha binti Haji Kadir from Sengkurong Post Office was selected as the recipient of the Best Head of Postal Services Award while the Best Postman Award went to Awang Haji Duraim bin Haji Metassan, Grade 2 Postman from the Gadong Post Office. The awards act as a boost and motivator to the officers and staff of the Postal Services Department to be more diligent in carrying out their daily duties and responsibilities. The Minister of Communications also presented prizes to the winners of the letter writing competition for children aged 9 to 15 years.
The function ran concurrently with the launch of the second edition of the Postcode Book 2018. The Postcode Book is a way to coordinate the postcode system which is not only for the ease of the Postal Services Department but also for other organisations. The Postcode Book is sold at 2 dollars a copy. The Minister of Communications also launched the Q-Pintar Postal System Pioneer Project.
World Post Day celebration is celebrated in commemoration of the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union establishment since 1874. This year's World Post day celebration's theme is "The Post: Delivering Good To The World". The celebration is held to establish awareness on the importance of the post's role in contributing to the country's social and economic development.
At the function, the Minister of Communications also officiated the opening of a cafe at the Mail Processing Centre in Berakas. The cafe is a Public-Private-Partnership project of the Postal Services department with a local private company.
