Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday afternoon organised a celebration for 90 students under the Advocating Life-long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) programme in a Hari Raya gathering event at the multi-purpose hall of Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC) in the capital.
Present to join in the celebration were BIBD’s Head of Institutional Banking, Haji Minorhadi bin Haji Mirhassan; the Acting Director of General of Education, Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus; Acting Director of Schools, Zaman bin Haji Gapar, and Deputy Director of the Islamic Studies Department from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Hajah Rusita binti Haji Yahya.
Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohd Ja’afar, in her capacity as the Head of BIBD’S Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), said in her speech, “Alhamdulliah, today we are able to celebrate Aidilfitri with our students and to also catch up with their progress and developments.”
The ALAF programme was launched in May 2013. It provides selected students with provisions for school and tuition fees, educational materials and welfare, as well as mentoring and counselling necessities among others, in hopes to ensure the absolute commitment by these students towards their education.
The ALAF programme will also continue to provide support and assistance to these students until the end of their respective educational requirement needs.
