Enhancing the culture of jawi reading as a continuous practise is emphasised in the Bijak Jawi Program. The program - organised by the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Co-Curriculum Section was held at the Pelambayan Religious School yesterday afternoon.
More than 200 students took part in the program involving pre-until primary six students of Brunei One Area and Special Education students. The program was launched by Dayang Hajijah binti Haji Moktal, Acting Director of Islamic Studies. The program also provides long-term impact on jawi literacy improvement to students besides implementing jawi literacy empowering initiative activity. It also hopes to become an alternative in diversifying co-curricular activity towards producing students who are jawi literate apart from supporting the Islamic Studies Department curriculum that emphasised on the importance of reading and skills in jawi writing.
