Brunei Darussalam expressed its appreciation to the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), and the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), for their initiatives in promoting tourism and strengthening relations between the people and cultural exchanges between the three countries throughout 2018. It is hoped that there will be more activity participation this year. This was voiced by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, at the bilateral meeting between the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism with the AJC and AKC. The meeting took place at Ha Long City, Viet Nam in conjunction with the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum.
In the meeting with His Excellency Masataka Fujita, Secretary General of ASEAN-Japan Centre, Yang Berhormat expressed appreciation towards AJC's initiative especially in capacity development program to tour operators in Brunei Darussalam. Yang Berhormat encouraged the AJC to further strengthen cooperation in tourism related initiatives including language skills for tour guides and youth exchange programmes. Brunei Darussalam hopes to cooperate with the AJC in organising Brunei Week Festival next month in conjunction with its inaugural flight to Narita, Japan.
Meanwhile in a meeting with His Excellency Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the AKC, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism thanked the AKC for their support in organising the tourism capacity building workshop to tour operators and guides in communication, language and other services for the ease of tourists from the Republic of Korea visiting Brunei Darussalam. He added, Brunei Darussalam welcomes the support given by the AKC in organising the ASEAN Tourism Capacity Building Workshop on the 30th and 31st of January in Bandar Seri Begawan.
