Books are written or composed, then published. But it does not stop there, as even after publication, the book should also be read. This is the question of books. A book is like a store with a diverse content. Anyone who wants to know the content of the store, must first open the door and after that one can find out the treasures within it. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti stated the matter while launching the Latest Books published by Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA 2021. The ceremony took place yesterday morning at the Dewan Auditorium, UNISSA.
Yang Berhormat the State Mufti stated that it cannot be denied that books can open windows to the world, therefore many prominent figures are produced because of their high interest in reading books. This shows that reading is a giant power in making mankind brilliant. Thus the first verse that Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala revealed in the Quran to Prophet Muhammad SAW was Iqra or Read.
This year, UNISSA has published 33 books including seven books in Malay, seven in English and nine in Arabic. Apart from that, six journals, and two dictionaries comprising an Encyclopaedia and an al-Shafi’i monograph were also published. This year, 5 books were jointly published by IIUM Press including 3 in English, as well as 1 book respectively in Malay and Arabic. At the ceremony, 23 UNISSA staff received Excellent Awards. Also present were Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Japar bin Mat Dain @ Maidin, Deputy State Mufti and Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA.
