Borneo History Lecture Programme

Several working papers were presented during the 10th Series of the Borneo History Lecture Programme organised by Brunei History Centre through Borneo Research Centre. The programme was held physically and online at Borneo Research Centre, Berakas.

 

Among those present was Doctor Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Principal of the Brunei History Centre. Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Razak bin Abdul Kadir from Contemporary Islamic Studies Academy, Universiti Teknologi Mara Sarawak in his presentation among other touched on the background of manuscript sources as the most important media for the ruling elite and aristocrats of the ruling kingdom as well as scholars who develop knowledge, in addition to the importance of manuscript sources as the most important reference material in historical reference.

 

Meanwhile, Doctor  Awang Muhammad  Hazri bin Tusin, a Historical Researcher discussed the importance of local newspaper coverage that offered partial documentation of daily issues or activities in Brunei and examined the continuous changes in newspaper content in order to be aware of the country’s transformation process to this day.

 

Meanwhile, Dayang Izzah Afiqiah binti Haji Abdullah, a History Researcher shared about the study report of the ‘Tujuh Serangkai’ from a historical perspective which, among other things, highlighted the efforts made by the ‘Tujuh Serangkai’ until the formation of the Brunei Darussalam Constitution of 195, which has become the guide for the Brunei Government.
