The Brunei-Australia Memorial at Muara Beach yesterday morning became a mass gathering vicinity for more than two hundred Bruneian, Australian, New Zealand and international guests to commemorate the Anzac Day. It is to commemorate the Australian dan New Zealand armed forces.
Present was Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). The Brunei-Australia Memorial at Muara Beach marks the site where, on 10 June 1945, Allied forces led by Australia's 9th Division landed in Brunei as part of the campaign to liberate Borneo. In her speech, Her Excellency Nicola Rosenblum, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam among other things said that the celebration is honouring the ordinary men and women who have made personal sacrifices, many giving their lives for the freedoms enjoyed by the people of today.
