Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’, ‘AS’, ‘A’ Level and IGCSE

With the advice and cooperation of the Ministry of Health in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the Ministry of Education informed that the implementation of the written examination for Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’, ‘AS’, ‘A’ level and IGCSE for October/November 2021 session will be replaced by the School Assessed Grades, SAG.

The SAG covers student marks throughout 2021 and is an alternative assessment provided by the Cambridge Assessment International Education, Cambridge International and has been applied to countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020. The assessment is comparable to a face-to-face written examination.

Through the method, the school will include a portfolio for each student containing three types of substantial work or major assignments for each subject and is an evaluation of student assignments throughout the 2021 academic year. This includes assignments such as examination question papers completed according to the subject syllabus with a duration of 1 hour or more; Complete specific works according to the subject syllabus; Combination of questions taken from previous examination papers; Qualifying Test papers; Extended project work assigned by the school; and work given such as essays, assignments, problems and practical’s. However, the selection of assignment assessment for substantial work is subject to the decision of the respective schools.

Meanwhile, school candidates who have registered for the ‘AS’ level examination for October/November 2021 session will be arranged to sit for the examination in the May/June 2022. For private candidates who will sit for the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’, ‘AS’,’ A ‘Level and IGCSE for the October/November 2021 session, their registration will be changed to the May/June 2022 session. However, private candidates are also allowed to withdraw completely.
