Brunei Darussalam Commemorates 1448 Ilal Hijrah with Traditional Doa Ceremonies

Brunei darussalam: Brunei Darussalam marked the 1448 Ilal Hijrah with the reading of End of Hijrah Year and Hijrah New Year Doa across all mosques, surau, and religious halls nationwide on 16th June in the late afternoon. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the ceremony at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty was accompanied by his sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Upon His Majesty's arrival, he was greeted by distinguished figures, including Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara, along with other key officials.

The ceremony began with the threefold reading of the End of Hijrah Year Doa, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar. A symbolic 21 cannon shots heralded the arrival of the New Hijrah Year.

The mass Fardu Maghrib prayer, also led by Yang Berhormat Pehin, was followed by the reading of the Hijrah New Year doa. He further led the Sunat Hajat prayer and the reading of Doa selamat, reinforcing the spiritual significance of the occasion.

This year's celebration was themed 'Hijrah Penyelamat Aqidah' or 'Hijrah the Saviour of Faith'. The event was a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Baiduri Bank Sendirian Berhad.
