Eight Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel and a personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force will depart for Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines to join the 15th contingent of the International Monitoring Team. Meanwhile, 30 RBAF personnel will be on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL). The RBAF contingent is joining the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces personnel of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-6. The send-off ceremony was held yesterday morning at Bolkiah Garrison.
At the ceremony, Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces presented the national flag and badge to Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Rizal bin Haji Abdul Hadi, Head of the IMT Contingent and Major Daud bin Etim, Head of UNIFIL Contingent. Also in attendance was Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, the Commissioner of Police.
Meanwhile, a Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran Ceremony was held yesterday noon at Surau Ad-Difa', Ministry of Defence. The religious ceremony began with the reading of Surah Yaasin, followed by mass Zohor prayer and Doa Selamat. Brunei Darussalam has been a member of the IMT since 2004 and member of UNIFIL under MALBATT since 2008.
