Brunei Reports 2,278 New COVID-19 Cases, Total At 114,371

– Brunei reported 2,278 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally to 114,371.

All the newly recorded cases were local infections, the country’s health ministry said.

As of Mar 13, 58.6 percent of Brunei’s 420,000 population have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 94 percent have received one dose and two doses.

The COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and China’s Sinopharm are administered in Brunei.

According to the health ministry, four more patients passed away in the past 24 hours, bringing the death tally to 170.

Currently, 30,440 active cases are being treated and monitored in Brunei, where 83,761 recoveries have been reported.

Meanwhile, Brunei’s Prime Minister’s Office announced yesterday that, the country’s temporary suspension of cross-border activities with Malaysia will be extended for 16 days from tomorrow Mar 16 to Mar 31.

The temporary suspension on entry of foreign nationals via land and sea ports, including transits through Brunei, is extended by 16 more days until Mar 31, except for entry and transit travels that have been approved by the government.
