Bandar seri begawan: A report on the drug situation in Brunei Darussalam and efforts to address drug abuse issues were among those shared by representatives of the Legislative Council during the 9th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Advisory Council Meeting on Dangerous Drugs (AIPA-CODD) held online.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the country's delegation included Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam, both Members of the Legislative Council. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging views and discussing best practices regarding challenges in the region.
During the meeting, participants considered a draft resolution to be presented at the 47th AIPA General Assembly. The theme of the meeting, "Strengthening ASEAN Parliamentary Cooperation to Respond to the Convergence of Drug Trafficking and Related Crimes," emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in tackling drug-related issues. The meeting was organized by the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines.
