Brunei Darussalam is taking a 'whole-of-nation' approach towards an innovative economy. This fundamental shift is necessary to introduce new approaches to business and stay competitive in challenging times ahead. To discuss on how businesses should be proactive and forward-looking in order to create the basis for a sustainable economy, Brunei's Inaugural CEO Summit 2017, yesterday gathered about 50 heads of business owners and executives as well as international speakers in one setting. The summit was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The summit was officiated by Mr Javed Ahmad, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Darussalam Enterprise, DARe. The ceremony ran concurrently with the launch of the B-2-B coffee table book titled, 'Entrepreneurship Rising', the Brunei Edition. The more than 200 pages book showcases Brunei business and cognizant of the government's efforts to promote entrepreneurship and talents.
In the afternoon, the summit discussed on the topic of innovation economy. Organised by CONFEX, the one-day event, has invited local and international keynote speakers at discussing topics such as strategy, being market player, technology investment, innovation, productivity and change management. The CEO Summit 2017 aimed to attract international delegates into Brunei and at the same time exposing local speakers to become world-class presenters and moderators.
