Investigation is still ongoing into the cause of a fire which razed a rented house owned by a local at Simpang 66, Ban 6, in Kampong Mulaut last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 8.32 in the evening. Three fire engines from the Jerudong, Pengkalan Batu and Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Stations were deployed to the scene. The blaze was brought under control in 15 minutes. Occupants of the house comprised 23 foreign workers from various companies and all were reported safe in the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department advises the public to avoid overloading electrical usage, ensure that all wirings are in good condition, conduct inspections with authorised and certified companies by the Department of Electrical Service as well as ensure that the house is equipped with fire prevention equipment such as fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
