Cebu Pacific cancels 6 flights Saturday due to Aghon’s forecast impact

MANILA: Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) on Friday night said it has canceled six domestic flights scheduled May 25 due to Tropical Depression (TD) Aghon's forecast impact. In an advisory, CEB said the canceled flights are DG 6117/6118 Manila-Naga-Manila; DG 6177/6178 Manila-Masbate-Manila; and 5J 821/822 Manila-Virac-Manila. Affected passengers could refund their tickets or store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet. They could also rebook their tickets free of charge and without fare difference, for travel up to 30 days from original flight date. The airline said those who would like to postpone their travel to and from Butuan, Daraga, Masbate, Naga, San Jose, Siargao, Surigao, Tacloban, and Virac until May 26 could also avail of the free rebooking or travel fund options. Aghon was last located 135 km. northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 185 km. east southeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. The TD packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 70 kph. As o f 5 p.m. Friday, the following areas are under tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1: Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate including Ticao Island, Burias Island and Quezon (Calauag, Guinayangan, Lopez, Buenavista, Catanauan, Mulanay, San Narciso, San Francisco, San Andres, Tagkawayan), Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Cebu (San Remigio, Tabogon, City of Bogo, Medellin, Daanbantayan, Borbon) including Camotes Islands, Bantayan Islands and Bohol (Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, Bien Unido, Trinidad, Anda, Candijay, Ubay, Mabini, Alicia, San Miguel, Talibon), Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur (Sibagat, City of Bayugan, Prosperidad, San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, Trento), and Agusan del Norte. Those areas may experience minimal to minor impacts from strong winds. Aghon is forecast to move west northwestward to northwestward from Friday to Saturday while slowly intensifying. It is also forecast to make landfall over the southern portion of Eastern Samar or Dinagat Islands by Saturday as a tropical storm.
