Climate Action Week, Afternoon Session

In the afternoon, two papers were presented during the seventh thematic with a theme of ‘Research and Innovation on Adaptation and Resilience’ which discussed on life in Kampung Ayer and environment smart agriculture. These are all relevant to the latest Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change report stating that ‘human activities are the primary drivers for climate change’.

Present were Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary for Planning, Land Use and Environment at the Ministry of Development and Co-Chair of the Working Committee for Climate Action Week; and Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure, Housing and Professional at the Ministry of Development. It was found out that the people in Kampong Ayer are those with low income groups whom their houses are exposed to strong winds and risk of floods due to the rise in sea levels. As well as on the importance of using resources optimally including landless agriculture.
