The role of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, is not limited to war fighting or warfare, but also plays a part in supporting development especially in addressing wider security issues with challenges generated and catalysed by the era of globalisation. This was highlighted by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Former Commander of RBAF, during the Commander of the RBAF Change of Command Ceremony, yesterday afternoon at the Mini Stadium Bolkiah Garrison.
At the ceremony, the Former Commander of RBAF received the Honourary Salute and inspect the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Air Force, Training Institute RBAF and Women Military Personnel. Yang Dimuliakan Pehin has been with RBAF for 35 years and appointed as the Commander of the RBAF on the 30th of January 2014.
Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, in his final speech said RBAF need to enhance close collaboration between local and foreign agencies as in the era full of various technology and information resources facilities, as a RBAF personnel need to be more innovative in benefiting such development in tackling security challenges in various forms and dimensions.
The ceremony also saw the signing of the Handing Over Certificate to mark the official handover of duty of the Commander of RBAF to Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the new Commander of RBAF. Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan began his military career on the 9th of December 1985 and was appointed as the Commander of RBAF on the 31st of January 2018. As the 9th Commander of RBAF, the Former Commander of RBAF, believes Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan will continue to enhance the RBAF capability in supporting the role and responsibility entrusted upon it.
To mark the handover ceremony, the new Commander of RBAF received Honorary Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour.
The new Commander of the RBAF in his first speech as the 10th Commander of RBAF among other things touched on the importance of solidarity in making RBAF as a strong armed forces that is able to face in coming challenges.
